Meta is continuing to expand its virtual reality ambitions while also investing heavily in artificial intelligence. At the company’s annual Meta Connect event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced new hardware products designed to connect users with Meta’s growing ecosystem of AI agents.
The announcements included a new pair of Meta VR Glasses and a handheld device called Muse Charm, which is designed to provide faster access to Meta’s recently launched Muse AI personal agent.
Meta Introduces Muse Charm for AI Interaction
The Muse Charm is a compact handheld device that allows users to interact with Meta AI agents through voice commands without needing to unlock a smartphone or open an application.
Zuckerberg shared limited details about the product but explained that the device is designed to make conversations with Meta’s AI assistant more accessible, especially for users who are not wearing smart glasses.
“If you’re not wearing glasses, this is going to be by far the fastest way to talk to your Muse and to show it what’s going on around you,” Zuckerberg said during the presentation.
Meta has not announced pricing for Muse Charm yet, but Zuckerberg said the company is working to finalize the hardware components and plans to make the device available during the holiday season in December.
New Meta VR Glasses Target Premium Market
Meta also revealed its new VR Glasses, a slimmer and lighter virtual reality device compared with the company’s previous Quest headsets.
The new headset is expected to launch in spring 2027 with a price of $1,299, making it significantly more expensive than Meta’s $299 Quest 3S headset released in 2024.
The device uses an external computing puck that contains a Qualcomm processor and battery. This design allows Meta to reduce the size and weight of the glasses while maintaining advanced computing capabilities.
Improved Tracking and Visual Experience
According to Meta, the new VR Glasses offer improved visuals compared with earlier Quest devices and include technology that tracks users’ eye movements and hand gestures.
The improved tracking system reduces reliance on traditional controllers, allowing users to interact with virtual environments through more natural movements.
Zuckerberg described the product as a new type of VR device that combines immersive experiences, high-resolution displays and a glasses-like design for the first time in Meta’s hardware lineup.
Meta Expands Focus on AI and the Metaverse
The latest announcements reflect Meta’s dual strategy of developing virtual reality hardware while building a broader artificial intelligence ecosystem.
While the company continues investing in the metaverse through new VR products, it is also positioning AI agents like Muse as a major part of future consumer technology experiences.
The combination of wearable devices, virtual reality and AI assistants represents Meta’s effort to create new ways for users to interact with digital services beyond traditional smartphones and applications.
